For a document from abroad to be effective in Brazilian territory, some important requirements must be met.
Apostille or Legalization:
Check if the foreign document has a Hague Apostille or if it was legalized by the Brazilian Consulate in the country of origin.
Certified Translation:
Make sure that the document from abroad is translated into Portuguese by a certified translator in Brazil (Law 6015/73, art. 129).
If the document is written in two languages, one of which is Portuguese, the registrar may dispense with the translation.
Registration at the Notary Office:
After translation and apostolation/legalization, the document must be registered with the Notary Office.
